Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat

Incredibly it is over ten years since Charles Van Canneyt took over his family domaine in his early twenties. The domaine was always highly regarded, but under Charles’ direction, it has moved to another level, and its wines have become some of the most sought after in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine is blessed with some great vineyards and plenty of old vines, allowing Charles to adopt an unintrusive approach in his winemaking. He extracts very gently, not looking for overly dark, forced colours and keeps new oak levels at lowish levels. The results are wines that have subtlety, freshness, purity, energy and balance, which is just what you want from top-class Pinot. All the concentration you want is there, but it’s effortless, and the wines age incredibly well. In recent vintages, Charles has kept up to 25% of whole bunches on certain cuvées but, as you would expect, is keen not to overdo it. Please note that most of our allocation sells out en primeur, so get your orders in early!
