2019 Pouilly-oché ‘Clos des Rocs’ Monopole

This the crown jewel of Domaine Clos des Rocs: a true gem nestled within a walled vineyard in an ancient limestone quarry. This exclusive plot boasts 85-year-old vines and is situated in the lieu-dit Les Mûres, poised for potential promotion to 1er Cru status within Pouilly-Loché. Compared to its neighbouring appellation, Pouilly-Fuissé, which spans nearly 800 hectares, Pouilly-Loché is a ‘boutique’ region, covering just 32 hectares.

Crafted by winemaker Olivier Giroux, hailed as the maestro of the Mâconnais, the Monopole epitomises his unwavering dedication to precision and finesse. Giroux’s meticulous approach focuses on enhancing the wine’s crystalline purity and richness of fruit. To achieve this, he opts for larger 500-liter casks over the standard 228-liter Burgundy barrels, minimising the oak influence and allowing the wine’s character to shine through with unparalleled clarity and depth.
