About Domaine François Bertheau:
François Bertheau took over this small but well-endowed domaine in 2004. As Gouges does in Nuits, François makes Chambolle from his small cellars in the heart of the village. Stylistically the wines avoid heavy extraction and large proportions of new oak and are generally on the more delicate feminine side. François’ whole approach is pretty hands-off, accepting the yields that his beloved vines give or don’t give him, maintaining new oak at between 15% and 20% and not changing his vinification methods from year to year. As a result, his wines are incredibly pretty and also reflect the styles of the vintages, which is great. Small volumes always but worth seeking out.
