2021 Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Antoine Jobard
Antoine Jobard joined his father, François, at the domaine as long ago as 1998, although his first vintage in charge properly was 2007. Antoine does not like to force his wines and certainly doesn’t believe in sexing them up for short term pleasure. They tend to be wonderfully classical with strong definition and energy throughout. New oak is sparsely used, the wines are lean and salty yet intense and confident. These reflect more the modern style of Meursault, which is racier and more mineral-driven than the fat butter mountains of yesteryear. Those who know the wines love them, enjoying their mouthwatering tension and drive.
“Since easing the reins from Jobard père, Antoine Jobard has rapidly become one of Meursault’s go-to winemakers.”
