2017 Pommard 1er Cru ‘Clos Blanc’, Domaine Albert Grivault
These wines have an almost regal air to them. This is possibly, in part, to the grandiose property in the middle of Meursault, but the wines have magisterial confidence and forthrightness about them. The Clos des Perrières is a walled monopole in the middle of Perrières and the domaine is the largest owner of Meursault Perrières. The Clos is a little broader across the palate, very fine with immense length, while the Perrières has excellent concentration and lots of flinty minerality. They do require patient ownership – Monsieur Bardet has bottles dating back to the early 1900s in his cellar – and though we are not suggesting you wait this long, patience is required to enjoy the wines to their full potential.
